Utilizing this new service will streamline all aspects of payments, confirmations, enrollment documents, waivers and arrival information. We will also be able to stay in better contact with you for updates, changes and instructor contact. All correspondences and payment confirmations via. email will ensure you are properly registered for your course.

All of our courses require and we expect you to have a certain minimum skill level, this is clearly stated on each individual course page and in the descriptions. If you have any questions about the suitability of a course for you, please contact us through the contact us page specifying which class you wish to enroll in. To REVIEW, click here Skill Level Guide, or see the home page of each program, this will really help you and provide you with a better experience.

If you choose not to use our online registration service, using one of the two documents below for sending payments by check should be used. Please note we are not responsible for payments received late due to USPS mailed enrollments and you could lose your space.

You may call or email the school first to make sure that there is space in the course you want. We grant spaces based on full payment only, first come first served for enrollment. If we have an opening, we may be able to reserve it for you while you get your application in pending you have made prior contact with a school official. This is an especially good idea when a class topic or highly sought after instructor are being presented.

The main requirement for participation in workshops or classes at the New England School of Metalwork is the desire to learn. Our students range from beginners to seasoned professionals. Our classes are small, only six to eight students for plenty of one-on-one teaching. Our minimum age for attending workshops is 16, we reserve the right to accept younger students pending an interview with the them.

The New England School of Metalwork has nearly 75% of its courses approved for VA benefit. You can use your VA benefit for Blacksmithing, Bladesmithing or Welding, call or email us for further information.

Safety is of great importance, a full leather shoe or boot is mandatory as well as full length pants. Welding courses may require steel toe boots. NESM will provide any necessary PPE needed including safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, dust masks and face shields.

Tuition varies with length of the course and instructor. You will find the tuition and material fee on each course page.
As our class sizes are small, only payments in full will guarantee a position in a class. We will accept cash, check or credit cards. We also have many courses approved by the VA and are also supported locally by Career Centers and it would be your responsibility to know the agencies particular policies.

You may terminate your registration  at any time. To do so you must inform the New England School of Metalwork in writing. Termination will become effective on the date that the written notice was received and any refund will be made in consideration of this date. No verbal requests to terminate enrollment will be honored as official notification to terminate from the program.

If you terminate less than 14 business days before the start date of your workshop, you will not receive any refund of money paid to the New England School of Metalwork.

If your notice of cancellation is received between 15 and 21 business days prior to the course beginning date, your tuition is not refundable, but can be credited toward a future course later in that season. We will not forward tuition's into another year.

If your notice of cancellation is received 21 business days or more ahead of the workshop start date, the NESM will provide a full refund of all tuition, material fee or dorm fees paid back to the student, the $30.00 registration fee is non-refundable.

In case of emergency or insufficient number of students, the New England School of Metalwork reserves the right to cancel a course and return all money. Because of this policy and the fact that we can not control enrollment, we strongly urge you to buy refundable airline tickets or flight insurance. The New England School of Metalwork will not be responsible for any monetary loss on airline tickets. Determination of workshop cancellations will be done in accordance to the above guidelines, cancellation determinations will be made 14 days prior to the beginning date of the workshop.
