Prepare yourself for a fascinating week

In this four day class students will learn to make a Lancashire style hacksaw. The frame and fittings will be precisely forged at the anvil, bringing them as close to their finished form as possible. After forging, time will be spent at the bench using files to refined and embellish each component, and in the end students will walk away with a functional and beautiful tool. Some of the skills and techniques covered in this workshop will include hand forging, power hammer work, closed die forging, and decorative file work. Students should be at least a seasoned beginner, with proficiency in coal and controlled hand forging skills.

In 2009 Seth graduated from Maine College of Art with a BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design. Seth has exhibited work in Germany, Japan, and across the United States. He has taught, demonstrated, and lectured at institutions including Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, the Center for Metal Arts, Southern Illinois Metalsmithing Society, and the Society of North American Goldsmiths.
