This 4 day course will focus on methods and processes for designing and producing unique forms of a botanical nature.

Its awesome to bring the stillness of steel to life and a pleasure to have poetic license and whimsy as your guides. Weather you need to accent an architectural piece or a fireplace tool, this class will instruct you on forging realistic and reliable forms. We will explore using bar stock, plate, sheet and structural shapes to produce leaves, pods, tendrils, floral forms, fruits, vegetables and more. We will also wander around the shop using all forms of metal working equipment such as MIG welders, plasma cutters, torches and of course the foundation of the work using forging as our core. To further compliment the forms, time permitting, we will explore simple techniques of adding color with the use of enameling. A whirlwind of botanical fun in the dead of winter.
