Come ENJOY some whimsical metalworking with no wrong answers !!
In this intense three-day class, students will learn how to split, neck, and shape steel pipe and square tubing to create various forged flowers, based on reality or your imagination. Using your blacksmithing and metalworking skill and techniques we will explore forming petals, stems, pistils, and leaves, including texturing and finishing. We will also utilize simple fullering tools for necking down as well as oxy-acetylene welding. Each student will complete a unique bouquet to take home. Students need to have some previous smithing and/or metalworking skill.


Joshua Swalec has 27 years experience in blacksmithing, welding, metal fabrication, design, drafting, project management, landscape design and construction. He currently owns and operates a fully equipped custom metalworking shop, Ferromorphics, in Millbury, MA. Currently, he teaches at the Worcester Center for Crafts, and has studied at Touchstone Center for Crafts, New England School of Metalwork, Worcester Vocational High School, and with Peter Johnsson. The primary focus of his work is currently in pattern welded steel blades.
