Forging tools that you can use is one of the most satisfying things to learn.  In this workshop our focus will be woodworking tools, using the hammer and anvil, we will practice the techniques to become efficient at toolmaking as well as improving your hand forging skills.

The projects in this class will build on each other starting with forging some workbench layout tools such as squares and dividers then we will move on to edge tools such as chisels,  carving axes and drawknives; these will be laminated tools with lots of forge welding.

We will discuss what makes a good looking tool and then with proper heat treatment how we make them functional to be put to work. We will reserve time at the end of the class to take the chisels forged and work on finishing, edge geometry, final sharpening/honing and finally fitting handles, ending the class with a functional tool.

This class will be heavy in forge welding and coal forge management using only hammer and anvil, no power hammers.
