In this class students will learn the process of forging their own blacksmith tongs in a fun and enthusiast environment! Tongs are a fundamental tool for blacksmithing, and the ability to forge your own is a valuable skill for any smith to have. Throughout the workshop we will go over the geometry and forging techniques to create multiple styles of tongs. Students will walk away with a set of tongs that suits their forging needs and an understanding of how to fit up and adjust any pair of tongs.
This tong class would include demos on making flat jaw tongs, scrolling tongs, bolt tongs, and box jaw tongs. Then depending on how fast students move, they could have time to make multiples of tongs or focus on other styles of tongs depending on interest.
