In this 5 day class, you will learn how to make my take on the classic stag handled vest bowie. This content of this class is geared towards intermediate level and up. During this class, we will go through blade forging (1084) and grinding, edge geometry, finishing and most importantly, learning to skillfully fit guards and stag handles. We will also cover common mistakes and challenges, as well as the best ways to overcome them, which will be of great help in future projects involving stag or other natural handle materials. At the end of the 5 days, you will be leaving with a finished classic stage vest bowie of your own.
I am a 24 year old knife maker from the Eastern Townships. I have been perfecting my craft for the last 6 years, obtaining my American Bladesmith Society Journeyman and aspiring to make it to Mastersmith level in the upcoming years. I specialize in pattern welded steel knives of all sorts: hunting knives, bowies, kitchen knives or daggers, I do it all! Every day, I strive to make well designed, functional and aesthetically pleasing pieces. The only thing bigger than my attention to detail is my desire to grow as a craftsman.
Over the last years, I have discovered a passion for teaching, offering different knife making classes and precise skill training. It is now my pleasure to teach for the first time at the New England School of Metalwork.
