13 Week Comprehensive Welding Program
Monday through Friday 9:00 to 3:30 for 13 Weeks
In the 13 week program, students receive instruction in all of the welding processes we offer at the school – GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and SMAW. In addition, students are also trained in oxy fuel and plasma cutting, carbon arc gouging, and the use of basic hand tools (grinders, fit-up tooling, etc.). The goal of this course is to have students prepared enough so that they are "ready to go" on the first day of employment. Other subjects covered in this course include but not limited to:
- Print and Weld Symbols
- Weld Inspection
- Rigging Safety
- AWS Code and Standards
- Shop and Tool Safety
- Metal Fabrication and Fitting
- Employability Skills
Students may test for the AWS D1.1 Structural Steel certifications in SMAW and/or FCAW by the end of the program (optional – additional fee required). Individuals who exhibit sound welding skills are encouraged to take one or both of the certification tests.
