STUDENT ENROLLMENT and Cancellation/Refund Policy
Enrollment at NESM is easy using our online enrollment and payment service provided by Active Network. By simply clicking ENROLL NOW located on each course page, on-line enrollment and payments will save the school a lot of time and provide better information to us for your future visits. Utilizing this new service will streamline all aspects of payments, confirmations, enrollment documents, waivers and arrival information. We will also be able to stay in better contact with you for updates, changes and instructor contact. All correspondences and payment confirmations via. email will ensure you are properly registered for your course.
All of our courses require and we expect you to have a certain minimum skill level, this is clearly stated on each individual course page and in the descriptions. If you have any questions about the suitability of a course for you, please contact us through the contact us page specifying which class you wish to enroll in. If you choose not to use our online registration service, using one of the two documents below for sending payments by check should be used. Please note we are not responsible for payments received late due to USPS mailed enrollments and you could lose your space.
Tuition varies with length of the course and instructor. You will find the tuition and material fee on each course page.
As our class sizes are small, only payments in full will guarantee a position in a class. We will accept cash, check or credit cards.

You may call or email the school first to make sure that there is space in the course you want. We grant spaces based on full payment only, first come first served for enrollment.
The main requirement for participation in workshops or classes at the New England School of Metalwork is the desire to learn. Our students range from beginners to seasoned professionals. Our classes are small, only six to eight students for plenty of one-on-one teaching. The minimum age for attending workshops is 16, we reserve the right to accept younger students pending an interview with them.
The New England School of Metalwork has nearly 75% of its courses approved for VA benefit. You can use your VA benefit for Blacksmithing, Bladesmithing or Welding, call or email us for further information.

TUITION, REFUNDS, WITHDRAWALS, TRANSFERS and CANCELLATIONS

You may terminate your registration at any time. To do so you must inform the New England School of Metalwork in writing(email is acceptable). Termination will become effective on the date that the written notice was received and any refund will be made in consideration of this date. No verbal requests to terminate enrollment will be honored as official notification to terminate from the program.
The New England School of Metalwork will not refund any tuition once a student has begun a course. Exceptions are based upon verifiable and extreme circumstances which NESM will determine are just and appropriate reasons.
If you cancel less than 21 business days (3 weeks) before the start date of your workshop, you will not receive any refund of money paid to the New England School of Metalwork.
If your notice of cancellation is received 21 to 42 business days ahead of the workshop start date, the NESM will provide a full refund of all tuition, material fee or dorm fees paid back IF and PENDING YOUR SPOT CAN BE FILLED from our WAIT LIST !!, IF we can not FILL your spot, we WILL NOT refund you ** OR ** your tuition is not refundable, but can be credited toward a future course later of that same year. We will not forward tuition's into another year. the $30.00 registration fee is non-refundable in any situation.
If you cancel your enrollment with 42 days ( 6 weeks) or more notice, NESM WILL REFUND you your full amount less the $30 registration fee.
TRANSFERS to another course in the same calendar year are accepted up to (1) One week prior to the start date, ONLY ONE transfer is permitted. Request for a transfer less than (7) seven days prior to the start date are considered a cancellation and will be subject to the above criteria.
In case of emergency or insufficient number of students, the New England School of Metalwork reserves the right to cancel a course and return all money. Because of this policy and the fact that we can not control enrollment, we strongly urge you to buy refundable airline tickets or flight insurance. The New England School of Metalwork will not be responsible for any monetary loss on airline tickets. Determination of workshop cancellations will be done in accordance to the above guidelines, cancellation determinations will be made 14 days prior to the beginning date of the workshop.

If you plan on enrolling in two or more workshops at the same time, you will only pay the $30.00 registration fee once when enrolling in multiple courses.
CLASS AUDIT
We do offer one (1) audit space per course for some Metalsmithing workshops only. The cost is half (50%) of tuition plus the $30.00 registration fee. Auditing a course allows you full access to observe, take notes, take pictures and discuss all manner of the respective course material with the instructor. There is no hands on involved in auditing a course. The enrollment process for the audit space is the same as enrolling in any class, please use the email below for enrolling.
