       In this four day workshop students will complete a forged, hidden tang chef knife with either a western or eastern blade profile. All aspects of knifemaking will be covered, including, forging, grinding, heat treatment, safety, tools, material selection and kitchen knife design theory. The blades will be 1084 carbon steel with a metal bolster and choice of exotic or figured hardwood handle. Students should expect to complete one 6-8” chef knife. Beginner bladesmithing skills are strongly recommended but not necessary.         


Students should be familiar with basic forging processes to be successful in this class. A minimum of a beginners blacksmithing is super helpful.
