Join renowned bladesmith Josh Prince of Princeworks Forge for a hands-on journey into crafting a one of a kind full-tang integral hunter. Known for his unique aesthetic and inventive designs, Josh will guide students through the complete process of forging and finishing a full-tang integral blade that blends both function and form.
This class will focus heavily on the process and practical techniques of forging a knife to near-finished dimensions, both in profile and thickness, scorch fitting and finishing hardwood handle scales, and finishing a blade with very minimal grinding. Metallurgy and heat treatment will be discussed and students will leave with a fully finished, hardened, tempered, and sharpened knife.
Students should come prepared for an intensive forging experience. Prior forging and bladesmithing experience is required.
Students will leave with new skills and a unique and robust knife built to last a lifetime.

My desire is to make knives one at a time and have them available to aficionados of both fine cooking and cutlery. Before coming to metal as a material in 2016, I had worked since childhood in many sculptural materials including wood, stone, concrete and foundry. I am an enthusiast of bonsai and cooking. Designing and forging these objects is a passionate pursuit, and it gives me great joy when people take an interest in what I am doing and share the excitement by choosing to own something I have conceived and labored into existence.”
